Wings on the fly
Buffalo Wild Wings flies into San Antonio with 2 new to-go restaurants
A well-known chicken joint and the largest sports bar brand in the country is spreading its wings across San Antonio.
Buffalo Wild Wings will open two locations of its Go concept — its new takeout and delivery-focused model — in Alamo City starting this week.
The Austin Highway Go, located at 1235 Austin Hwy., building D, suite 1071, will open for business Friday, February 4. It will be quickly followed by a new Go location at 8309 Bandera Rd., suite 2, which is slated to open by early spring, thereby officially offering up “spring chicken.”
Each of the two new Go locations will bring 25 new full-time and part-time jobs to the San Antonio community.
Buffalo Wild Wings, which was launched in 1982 and now boasts more than 1,200 restaurants in 10 countries, hatched its first San Antonio Go location in February 2021 at 1134 Culebra Rd., and two more additional locations later last year: at 10538 Potranco Rd. and 4230 N. Foster Rd.
Key to the Go concept is get-chicken-quick convenience, giving wing addicts the option to order ahead online or through the app and then pick up the goods from individual takeout lockers, with the goal of providing a contactless and hassle-free experience — offerings that have become cardinal during the pandemic.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Go locations also include walk-up counters and digital menu boards for customers who prefer to order onsite, though there is limited seating at the dedicated to-go concepts, and ardent fans of the dine-in sports bar brand will notice no beer or boozy options will be offered.
Though onsite dining options may be limited and alcoholic drinks don’t fly at the Go concept, the food menu is bountiful. All of the brand’s chicken wings and 26 signature sauces and dry-rub options, as well as a few other fan favorites, are available at Buffalo Wild Wings Go locations. And the new San Antonio spots will also serve up traditional and boneless wings, hand-breaded tenders, chicken sandwiches, and sides.
“I am thrilled to introduce the Buffalo Wild Wings Go model on Austin Highway and Bandera,” says Lyle Tick, president of Buffalo Wild Wings. “Our takeout and delivery business grew significantly over the last 20 months as guests across America enjoyed our award-winning wings, sauces, and other menu items at home. With great deals every day of the week on wings and bundles at Go, customers have one more way to enjoy our wings for any occasion, from game-day lunch to family dinner.”
Both of the new San Antonio Buffalo Wild Wings Go locations will be open 11 am–11 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 am–midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
