SABOR REPORT
San Antonio home sales go up as houses linger on the market

The volume of home sales in the San Antonio area increased in September and prices remain steady, but homes are staying on the market longer, according to a report from the San Antonio Board of Realtors.
A new report from Realtor.com sheds even more light on the San Antonio-area home market. The report says home inventory in the region sits at 49.6 percent above pre-pandemic levels — the second highest percentage among 50 major U.S. metros.
The SABOR report shows 2,823 homes were sold in the San Antonio area in September, up five percent from the same period last year, and the median home price last month held steady at $308,995.
While sale volume went up and home prices were stable, homes spent an average of 78 days on the regional market in September, up 11 percent from the same time last year, the report says.
“Inventory remained strong, with 5.9 months of supply, continuing to favor a more balanced market environment,” SABOR says in a news release.
In line with the robust inventory, active listings climbed 13 percent in September compared with the same period in 2024. But new listings fell five percent and pending listings dropped 24 percent. The figure for pending listings suggests “continued caution among buyers despite improving sales totals,” according to SABOR.
“San Antonio’s market continues to show strength in both new construction and resale activity,” says Ed Zapata, chairman of SABOR. “Buyers benefit from increased options, while sellers remain supported by steady prices.”
