Real estate expert shares her love for living in San Antonio's Tri-Cities
Those seeking an ideal mix of suburban and urban should keep the tri-cities in mind. Why? Kuper Sotheby's Realtor Kathy Ripps reveals that the area not only has a quaint, walkable vibe but is also super close to everything.
"I love living in the Alamo Heights area," says Ripps. "It truly is a lifestyle the spoils you since everything is within a two-mile radius of your home. It is a neighborhood of walkers, runners, and bikers. I walk to the local HEB and Whole Foods, to drop off laundry, and just to enjoy a walk through the neighborhood with the large canopy of oak trees that keep you cool from the hot sun."
The tri-cities area is also known for its outstanding school district, a major plus for families. Two elementary, one junior, and one high school are all are known for their exemplary standards and results, as well as highly involved and supportive parents.
Alamo Heights is is only about 10 minutes from downtown and the airport, so you can enjoy easy access to big city culture without worrying about traffic delays.
Below are a few of Ripps' picks for the best spots in this premier area, as well as a hot listing that could turn you into a 78255 resident.
Eating and drinking
"Bistro 09 recently opened and has become a new hot spot in town, but we really have every cuisine imaginable in a five-minute drive. Now you cannot live in San Antonio and not love Mexican food. Go enjoy everything from Panchitos for queso to Mary Lou's for chicken caldo to Paloma Blanca for a refreshing margarita. Fredericks is French cuisine and always a good bet for a nice dinner, while Volare's will deliver your pizza for free on those cold rainy nights."
Arts and culture
"This area is so close to downtown San Antonio, you won't want to miss the River Walk, Hemisphere Park, The Alamo, and the Menger Hotel bar, where Teddy and the Rough Riders would meet. Concerts, Jazz Fest, Fiesta events, parades, and more all center around these areas. When you live so close, it is easier to partake and enjoy the heart of San Antonio's culture."
Outdoors and recreation
"Walking trails are close for those who like a long run, but a five-minute drive will get you down to the Pearl area, where you can visit a farmers market on the weekend and take a great walk along the river. The Quarry Golf Course is right next to our Quarry Market, so there is something for everyone."
