We chatted with Amaro to find out more about his work and what drives him.
CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?
Travis Amaro: I’ve always loved architecture. My father was an architect so growing up I developed a love for unique homes, which is why I’ve made the Alamo Heights area my specialty. It's filled with stunning, historic homes.
CM: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to people looking for their dream home?
TA: Make a list of your must-haves, but be ready to compromise on some things.
CM: And advice to those who are selling?
TA: Invest in preparing your home for sale: spruce up the landscaping, add a fresh coat of paint, stage the rooms, and declutter as much as possible.
CM: Sum up San Antonio in three words.
TA: Big small town.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
TA: I know local housing markets intimately. I can tell you the history of almost every home in Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, and Olmos Park.
CM: What's one thing people might not know about you?
TA: I’m a connoisseur of '90s rap.
