San Antonio is known for Fiesta, the celebration that started in 1891 as a one-parade event to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. And since 1968, the King William neighborhood has played a major part in the festivities.
"This area hosts one of the last events during Fiesta," says Realtor Kathy Ripps. "The tall trees, music, food, art — it is just a special day and you really feel the history of the area."

Where to eat & drink
There are "way too many to mention," says Ripps, but when pressed she lists Bliss, Little Em's Oyster Bar, and Rosario's as personal favorites.
Where to explore
This area is the city's center of culture, with the San Antonio Museum of Art and Tobin Center for shows and exhibitions, La Villita for shopping, and the Gunther House for a peek back into history.King William is also right by Hemisphere Park and sits along the famous Riverwalk.
Where to live
628 E. Guenther St.has been made to feel light and airy through thoughtful renovations that started underground with the sewer and foundation and go all the way up to the roof. The two-bed, one-bath home benefitted from architect Katherine Norid's updates that mesh the old with the new, signaled by two original Maxwell sconces that light the nostalgic front porch.
Upon entering the formal living room, you are drawn through artistic arches to the updated kitchen and all the way into the bright, beautiful family room addition with lots of windows and glass doors throughout. Tons of storage is hidden within the walls of the 1,858-square-foot home.
Enjoy a sip of wine in the private backyard with its flagstone patio that's inset with petrified wood. The back fence highlights raised gardens with handmade tile and work or storage areas. During Fiesta (it will come again!), your home will be the hot spot for friends and family to gather during the King William Festival.
And don't forget there are more than 30 restaurants nearby, so you can enjoy great food with the exercise of walking there and back.
