Eagle-eyed San Antonio Realtor knows how to spot real estate deals
Plenty of people keep an eye out for open houses and for-sale signs when passing through neighborhoods, but Jakey Weilbacher does so with an expert's eye. A Realtor since 1978 and lifelong resident of San Antonio, Weilbacher has combined her active lifestyle — she's an avid hunter and fisher — and love for Alamo City with a dedication to helping buyers and sellers complete their ideal transactions.
The Texas Tech grad is a Realtor with Kuper Sotheby's International Realty, assisting others who are looking to set down roots in not only San Antonio but also the Hill Country and along the Texas coast. She is also a professional member of the National Trust of Historic Preservation/Real Estate program.
When not scouring local neighborhoods with her husband, Weilbacher can be often be found cooking or spending time with family and friends.
We chatted with Weilbacher to find out more about her work and what drives her.
CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?
Jakey Weilbacher: It inspires me that I'm helping people with one of the most important things of their life — it's probably financially the most expensive things they will do. I want to make it a wonderful experience.
CM: What's one piece of advice you'd give to people looking for their dream home?
JW: Think about what your goals and wants are before you start looking for your new home or selling your own home. Have an idea of what part of town, school district, or where you want to be in.
CM: And advice to those who are selling?
JW: Price your home right in the beginning — don't try for some wild price just to see if you can get it. It hurts your sale to start out high and keep reducing.
CM: Sum up San Antonio in three words.
JW: Multi-cultural, friendly, accepting.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
JW: My experience, and wanting my clients to be happy with their purchase or sale. I get my joy from them being happy and pleased.
CM: What's one thing people might not know about you?
JW: I was an art history major, and I also love to cook.
