Searching for a home to buy in San Antonio? Try expanding your search to newer and up-and-coming neighborhoods.

Though new neighborhoods tend to be further from the city center, there's still a lot to love. You may find that you have more say in the design of a new-build home, lower maintenance costs, and a neighborhood geared toward modern comfort and convenience.

Keep in mind that working with an experienced agent can also help make the process of buying a house in your desired area much easier.

Take a look at these new San Antonio neighborhoods and communities to consider:

Coronado
Located at the north end of the city, the Stone Oak area has a variety of newer neighborhoods and new-build communities within, including Coronado. This new home community is zoned with the desirable Northeast ISD, making it a great place for homebuyers looking to start a family.

Nearby is the Village at Stone Oak, a popular outdoor shopping center that has restaurants and a movie theater. If you want to enjoy the great outdoors, check out the trails and playground at Stone Oak Park.

Scenic Crest
Though this new community is just a few minutes north of the city of San Antonio, Boerne is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area, or Greater San Antonio. One major draw for homebuyers is that you can experience small-town living while still being in the Northside ISD boundaries and close enough to the city that you can still enjoy everything San Antonio has to offer.

Surrounded by the beautiful Hill Country, Scenic Crest has two main home options, Classic and Premier, each with different features. There is also a quick move-in option for those who don't want to wait.

Blue Ridge Ranch
For homebuyers looking to make a move and potentially a job change, this new neighborhood in South San Antonio is close to major employers like Holt Cat San Antonio. There are also a lot of things to do nearby, like visiting Calaveras Lake Park, Southside Lions Park East, and Brooks City Base.

For those wanting to be close to schools, this community is in the East Central ISD and near Oak Crest Elementary School, Heritage Middle School, and East Central High School, making it a solid choice for parents with children of any age.

Wasser Ranch
A little farther to the northeast is this community in New Braunfels. Known for its lush parks and historic German flair, New Braunfels is part of the greater San Antonio Metropolitan area.

Potential homebuyers looking to get a little of everything with a bit of distance from the bustle of the city will fall for Wasser Ranch. This new neighborhood is a nature lover's dream with a 1.4-acre lake, a dock, walking paths, and plenty of open green space.

Southton Meadows
This laidback community in southeast San Antonio is just 15 minutes from downtown. The neighborhood offers seven different home collections, giving you a lot of say in your preferences for design and amenities. Speaking of, there is also a gradual-slope pool with fountains, a playground, plenty of walking trails, and more.

Nearby, residents will find the Mission Del Lago Golf Course, Brooks City Base, and Braunig Lake Park.

Meridian
If you're looking for something west of the city center and want to be located near SeaWorld and Alamo Ranch, this is a fantastic community to choose. Major employers like Lackland Air Force Base, Toyota, and the Westover Hills Medical Center are also close by.

Coming soon are an infinity swimming pool, a playground, a community garden, and a food truck area. Families with kids or those looking to have kids will be happy to know that this community is located in Medina Valley ISD. There are currently a variety of home plans that you can design, as well as move-in ready options.
