Realtor Profile

San Antonio luxury Realtor excels at leading his clients to real estate gems

A resident of South Texas since 1977, Realtor Matthew Resnick has lived in San Antonio since 1992. After spending 17 years helping his father build a successful fine jewelry business, Resnick decided he was ready to pursue his true passion: real estate.

With extensive experience in fine home building, working with investment properties, and buying and selling residential and coastal properties, Resnick has become extremely knowledgeable of the industry. In 2006, he received his real estate license and hit the ground running, quickly rising to the top of the pack in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Business Journal and elite professional network Platinum Top 50 have both recognized Resnick year after year as a top Realtor. An expert in The Dominion neighborhood, he also specializes in luxury real estate for San Antonio and its surrounding areas.

We chatted with Resnick to find out more about his work and what drives him.

CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?

Matthew Resnick: I love every aspect of real estate, and every day is a new opportunity to wake up and do better than I did the day before. Sharing a vision with my clients and striving to meet or exceed their goals is very rewarding. To be a part of an industry where I can provide my clients with exceptional service, transparent guidance, and a level of integrity that cannot be measured by money is very rewarding. What incentivizes me the most are the many relationships I have developed throughout the years. Some of my closest friends today began as clients.

CM: What do you consider your special skill?

MR: My acute ability to truly listen to people. This is a surmountable tool of mine that I use both in my professional and personal life. When we take the time to listen to people, we learn about others problems and pain points that may need resolution. Listening to others also strengthens the bond of trust, which we all know is one of the greatest aspects of a relationship.

CM: What's one piece of advice you'd give to people looking for their dream home?

MR: I tell my clients to find out what's important to them on a day-to-day basis, then write down a list of must-haves. Once you identify the lifestyle you're accustomed to, that will help define what your dream home is going to look like.

CM: And advice to those who are selling?

MR: Real estate transactions are often complex. I tell my sellers that it is important to remove your personal emotions from the sale. Of course, many people are emotionally invested in their home, but when it comes time to sell it is best to compartmentalize those emotions and remove them from the equation. By doing this, you can view the details as a business agreement, lessening the emotional turmoil that may arise if viewed otherwise, which in turn could have effects on the outcome of the sale.

CM: Sum up San Antonio in three words.

MR: Culture. Family. Opportunity.

CM: What's one thing people might not know about you?

MR: I am a certified expert in diamonds.
