$120 million manufacturing plant serves up 500 new jobs in San Antonio
Cuisine Solutions Inc. is cooking up 500 jobs in San Antonio with the opening of a $120 million plant that will make refrigerated food.
Cuisine Solutions and property developer Cambridge Development Group LLC will begin construction in March on the 290,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, which will sit on nearly 24 acres at the mixed-use Brooks development. The plant is expected to open in mid-2020.
San Antonio will become the sixth global manufacturing site for Alexandria, Virginia-based Cuisine Solutions, which prepares sous-vide entrees, sauces and other food items for foodservice providers.
Customers include restaurants, airlines, hotels, retailers, and foodservice businesses. Among the buyers of Cuisine Solutions’ products are the Hilton hotel chain, retailers Costco and Kroger, and U.S. military installations.
The plant represents the largest single investment ever made at Brooks. According to a release, 27 other states were considered for the new plant before settling on San Antonio, Texas.
“Brooks is the ideal location for us to establish our presence west of the Mississippi River,” Stanislas Vilgrain, chairman and CEO of Cuisine Solutions, says in a release. “San Antonio has an industrious and enthusiastic workforce that we’ll tap into to help support our growth and meet the increasing demand for our restaurant-quality products.”
San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg says Cuisine Solutions’ selection of the Alamo City for its fourth plant in the U.S. “reflects on our community-wide commitment of positioning San Antonio as a business-friendly city, prepared to meet the workforce needs of expanding or relocating national corporations.”
