Pottery Barn Kids opens first San Antonio store in Lincoln Heights
Pottery Barn Kids will open its first San Antonio store on September 26.
A new home décor showroom might make your neighbor’s nursery more stylish than your living room. Pottery Barn Kids is opening its first San Antonio location in The Shops at Lincoln Heights (999 E. Basse Rd.) on September 26.
Its parent company dates back to 1949 (it was named after three literal pottery barns), but the Kids offshoot is a relatively recent innovation. Started as a catalog in 1999, it now has almost 60 stores scattered across the U.S.
Although a touch more playful, the brand is an extension of Pottery Barn’s subdued aesthetic. Spindle cribs come in warm woods and beige upholstery; the website has a whole category for neutral baby bedding; and even burp cloths come in a minimal stripe.
That’s not to say there isn’t some room for whimsy like a mobile with felted roses, various Marvel and Disney-themed sheet sets, and a rug woven with rainbow stars. In fact, Pottery Barn Kids has long been a not-so-secret resource for decorators looking for distinctive, but budget-conscious, finds for adult rooms.
A bedside table shaped like a dollhouse could double as a cottagecore bar. And the brand’s pastel scallop-edged rugs could be plopped in a college student’s first apartment as instant dopamine décor.
The San Antonio store’s layout was not included in a press release. Still, the floor space is typically divided between a design studio for registries and planning, staged nursery and bedroom sets, and gift and toy displays. That category includes tasteful play kitchens, because it’s never too early to teach your brood the value of unlacquered brass.
Starting September 26, San Antonio’s first Pottery Barn Kids store will be open Monday-Saturday, 10 am-7 pm and Sunday, 11 am-6 pm.
