Texas-based Fossil turns back time with limited edition hologram watch
This is a puffy story about a new watch, but it's from a company based in Texas, and it's a hologram watch. Holograms are cool. Holograms are newsworthy.
Richardson-based Fossil, known for its watches and purses, has released a hologram watch that it first launched in the early '90s, but now redesigned with a 21st-century update.
The watch is part of Fossil's archival series, which consists of limited-edition re-releases of the company's most popular timepieces. They launched the series to celebrate their most coveted and iconic watch designs from the last decades.
It started in fall 2018 when they re-released the Mood watch, which had heat-reactive color-changing dials and mood decoders on the back. True collector's items, only 854 were produced, and the release sold out.
There will be archival launches throughout 2019 starting in May, with a drop almost every month through the end of the year.
The hologram watch features a unique holographic lens dial, displaying two different travel-inspired images when you twist your wrist.
The strap is black leather. The case combines two metal colors, with a stainless steel body and a gold-plated top ring and crown. If you're a matchy-matchy person, that two-tone style is versatile, because you can wear either gold or silver jewelry and not have it clash. These things are important.
For those who covet special packaging, the watch is packaged in a unique, limited-edition tin.
The watch will be available on Fossil's website and in select stores in May 2019 and retail for $115.
