Ye announces surprise July 4 show at San Antonio's Alamodome

Ye is playing a San Antonio show on July 4.
One way or another, there’s going to be fireworks. Ye, the controversial rapper and producer formerly known as Kanye West, has announced a surprise stop at San Antonio’s Alamodome as part of his 2026 international tour.
The booking comes as Ye tries to dig his way out of the most contentious chapter of his career. Once celebrated as one of the most influential producers and rappers of the 21st century, Ye has become a lightning rod for criticism due to antisemitic statements, alliances with white nationalists, and increasingly bizarre rhetoric.
The controversies have become increasingly extreme following his 2021 split with Kim Kardashian. In 2022, he wore a White Lives Matter shirt at Paris Fashion Week, then praised Adolf Hitler on Alex Jones' Infowars. A teaser image for his most recent album, 2026’s Bully, included a red swastika.
Ye has since stepped back from his most inflammatory stunts. In January, he purchased a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal apologizing to the Black and Jewish communities. The rapper blamed untreated bipolar disorder for his series of hateful statements.
International reception of the tour has been mixed. U.K. officials denied him entry ahead of the Wireless Festival earlier this year, forcing a cancellation of the entire event. Several other European dates have proceeded as planned, but not without an outpouring of protest from politicians and the general public.
Those who did buy into Ye’s redemption arc reportedly were privy to a setlist drawn from early standouts like Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and newer material such as 2024’s Vultures 1 and Vultures 2.
Tickets for the Independence Day Ye concert have not yet gone on sale, but fans can sign up for updates here. The tour website says a limited number of pre-registered fans will receive free tickets, a strategy he has used at other stops to drive engagement amid uncertain demand.
