Shakira reschedules San Antonio concert after sudden cancellation

Shakira cited stage issues for the last-minute cancellation.
When Shakira abruptly cancelled her June 13 concert at San Antonio’s Alamodome, the pop icon promised to quickly reschedule. It turns her hips (and the rest of her) don’t lie. The Colombian singer has come through with a makeup show on July 5.
The singer announced the new date via Instagram, writing “I’ll be with my pack in San Antonio this July 5th to give you the show you deserve! See you soon, Texas!”
Tickets for the original show will be honored on the new date. The Alamodome has yet to release refund details for those who could not make the rescheduled concert due to Independence Day plans. New tickets have not been released so far, although fans can still nab passes via the secondary market.
The originally scheduled concert was abruptly canceled as many fans were already on site at the Alamodome. In a statement posted on Alamodome's Instagram account, she blamed faulty infrastructure meant to support the stage and ceiling of her production. Arena reps clarified that it was a third-party issue, not a problem with the venue itself.
"To not be able to perform for you tonight deeply affected me and my fans in San Antonio," Shakira said in the statement. "I am here, devastated, and heartbroken."
The problems were initially discovered on the Boston leg of her tour on May 29. As with the Alamo City show, that concert was suddenly called off mere hours before the scheduled time. A subsequent May 30 stop in Washington, D.C., meant to be the welcome concert for WorldPride 2025, was also scrapped.
Shakira was in town supporting Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, the star's 12th studio album. The tour and release were her first in seven years. The last-hour cancellation left many fans in the lurch.
"She should've fixed it since Boston," commented one disappointed fan. "Who do I sue for my expenses and sunburn?"
"Next time, don't schedule a concert on Friday the 13th," wrote another.
Shakira is scheduled to perform at Houston's Toyota Center on June 16 and 17. According to the statement, she is trying to reschedule the San Antonio appearance in the coming days. All San Antonio tickets will be transferable to the new date.
