Amazing authors flip through San Antonio Book Festival's 2024 lineup
Calling all readers, book enthusiasts, and those curious about the world of literature: The San Antonio Book Festival (SABF) is back for its 12th year, promising a day filled with captivating author presentations, engaging activities, and a celebration of the written word.
This year's festival will feature nearly 100 notable local, regional, and national authors. MacArthur "Genius" recipient and National Book Award Finalist Hanif Abdurraqib, will present his latest book, There's Always This Year: On Basketball and Ascension, a poignant reflection on basketball, life, and home. Three-time National Book Award Finalist Lauren Groff will showcase her thrilling adventure novel, The Vaster Wilds, and bestselling author Silvia Moreno-Garcia will introduce her dark thriller, Silver Nitrate.
"On April 13, we are throwing a party for pages! We have a stellar lineup, filled with literary talent, and there will be compelling discussions relating to both national and local conversations," said SABF Executive Director Lilly Gonzalez in a press release. "In a city with many festivals, this one is different — a free, family-friendly event designed to motivate all ages to get excited about books and reading."
The festival caters to readers of all ages, with a wide range of picture books, early reader, middle grade, and young adult titles. Children's author Chris Barton will dive deep into the world of glitter with his book Glitter Everywhere! while Xelena González and Adriana M. Garcia will read from Remembering, a heartwarming story about a family remembering their beloved pet dog through the traditions of el Día de Muertos.
In addition to the author presentations, the festival will feature a performance by Magik Theatre, interactive activities by local nonprofits such as the DoSeum, and complimentary snacks provided by H-E-B.
The festival will also showcase a wide range of authors from throughout Texas, including Pulitzer Prize winners Tim O'Brien and Lawrence Wright, recent Texas Writer Award recipient Elizabeth Crook, and West Texas native LaToya Watkins.
The full author lineup can be viewed on the San Antonio Book Festival website, allowing attendees to plan their day and ensure they don't miss their favorite writers. Readers will also get the opportunity to purchase books and have them signed by participating authors.
This free event will take place on April 13 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Central Library and UTSA Southwest Campus in downtown San Antonio. A full lineup is available at sabookfestival.org.
