COMING ATTRACTIONS
San Antonio’s Pearl takes a swing at mini golf with quirky new course

The designers of Gruene Mini Golf are behind the new Pearl course.
A new miniature golf attraction will soon swing into San Antonio’s Pearl. The design team behind the recently opened Gruene Mini Golf will soon begin construction on Pearl Putt, an 18-hole course at 250 E Grayson St. with props that pay homage to beloved Alamo City landmarks and the district’s brewing heritage.
A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) says construction was set to begin on August 1 and wrap up in late October. However, the project is still under review with the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC), which will consider approval in an August 6 meeting.
The course will squeeze into an unutilized tract of brick-paved land near Stable Hall and 1100 Springs Plaza. Although a representative of the Pearl declined to comment, project details submitted to HDRC give a preview of what locals and tourists might expect.
Paying heed to the course’s historic future location, planners culled design inspiration from various Pearl properties, including the black and white tile used at the Cellars apartments and the historic brick used throughout the compound. Other features pay homage to Pearl Beer, such as a rock waterfall paying homage to the brand’s “country of 1100 springs” promotional campaigns and stained glass reminiscent of the Jersey Lilly Saloon.
Miniature versions of San Antonio’s iconic monuments, including the Alamo and Tower of the Americas line the 6,700 square foot attraction. Guests can also expect kitschy decor and hazards like those seen in Gruene, although the plans do not go into any details.
In the past two years, mini golf has been making a surprising comeback in San Antonio. In October 2024, Florida-based franchise PopStroke opened near Six Flags Fiesta Texas with courses designed by Tiger Woods. Australian hospitality company Funlab teed up its own entry into the market, Holey Moley Golf Club, at the Shops of Rivercenter in December 2024.
