San Antonio's Fest of Tails is bringing together two of the city's most wholesome things again: dogs and kites. Families wanting a frolic can head to McAllister Park on March 15 for a free event featuring kite flying, a market dogs will love, food vendors, carnival games, and more.

This one's for morning people, running from 9 am to 2 pm. All ages and dog breeds are welcome.

You don't need a dog or a kite to join, although you can bring your own if you're lucky enough to have one. Attendees can simply soak up the good vibes or really commit by purchasing a kite or adopting a dog.

The Animal Defense League of Texas and San Antonio Pets Alive are partners for this event, where attendees can meet and take home a new furry friend. More noncommittal folks can also adopt a free plant (while supplies last) courtesy of the City of San Antonio Horticulture Department.

Those who do bring dogs should consider dressing them up for the costume contest and pooch parade. There aren't any rules about what the dogs should wear, but they can enter solo or in teams — so the possibilities are endless. The Best Dressed Dog competition runs from 9-11 am, followed by the parade at noon. Dogs will have to stick around through the parade to find out who won.

As mentioned, there will be an artisan market carrying goods for people and dogs, and alongside the carnival games attendees can also try a rock climbing wall.
