San Antonio radio flips the switch from Jack to Bob-FM

San Antonio radio listeners are saying goodbye to Jack and hello to Bob.
A longtime San Antonio radio station is off the air following the September acquisition of its parent company. 102.7 KJXK, more commonly known as Jack-FM, ended its 20-year run on January 5, replaced by 102.7 Bob-FM.
The station has been around since January 2006, taking over for KTFM. The station was known for its eclectic mix of pop and rock hits and its quippy fictional host “Jack.”
The changeover comes on the heels of former parent company Alpha Media’s acquisition by Connoisseur Media. The buyout affected all 205 of Alpha’s stations, increasing Connoisseur’s reach to 20 percent of the U.S. radio audience, according to an earlier release.
Despite all the corporate intrigue, the name change might not be noticed by San Antonio listeners. Like Jack, Bob has a similarly deep bench of album rock, alternative rock, and pop classics and a wisecracking host. The main difference is that the latter gives local programmers more control, so they can add hometown favorites to the rotation.
That’s not to say Jack didn’t troll its listeners ahead of the January 5 switch. In the final hours of its operation, the station hinted at the switchover by playing songs like N’Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” and the familiar hold music ditty “Opus Number One,” according to social media reports.
Bob-FM, for its part, is taking a similarly cheeky approach. Industry news site Radio Insight says its first switchover song was Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” and it has been playing winking songs like “Missing You” by John Waite and “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye and Kimbra throughout the day.
The Jack/Bob switch isn’t the only radio shakeup to recently hit San Antonio. In early December 2025, alternative rock-focused 103.3 The App — another Connoisseur station — returned to San Antonio’s airwaves after nearly a decade.
