CHRISTMAS IN JULY
Popular San Antonio resort unwraps frosty holiday ice attraction
Frosty the Snowman is coming to chill in the Hill Country. The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is bringing back its over-the-top ICE! holiday attraction this winter, and tickets are on sale now. From November 22, 2025, through January 4, 2026, visitors can step into a magical world carved from more than two million pounds of ice, all kept at a brisk nine degrees Fahrenheit.

The ICE! attraction includes beautiful ice-carved tunnels.

This year's theme brings the classic children's story to life in spectacular fashion. Guests will wander through 11 immersive scenes filled with glowing ice tunnels, towering 30-foot sculptures, and four icy slides. The 20,000 square foot installation is the only one of its kind in Central or South Texas, and it is hand-sculpted by 40 master artisans who will travel nearly 7,000 miles from Harbin, China.
Inside the winter wonderland, guests will encounter towering ice scenes, a crystal-clear nativity scene, and artists performing live carving demos. The resort will provide cozy parkas to ward off the shivers, but it might not be a bad idea to bring some festive mittens along for the stroll.

The icy fun is part of the resort's annual Hill Country Christmas, the property's annual Christmastime celebration. Reindeer Ridge will also return to the 40,000 square foot Exhibit Ballroom with a full slate of activities, including:
- Snow Flow Mountain, a multi-lane tubing hill made of real snow
- Snowball Build & Blast, an interactive snowball game
- Mrs. Claus' Christmas Traditions, a retelling of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" with carols, cookies, and milk
- Gingerbread Decorating Corner, with special guest Nutmeg, the gingerbread man
- Build-A-Bear Workshop, with a one-of-a-kind Heart Ceremony
Guests can also warm up at the s'mores station, write letters to Santa, take festive photos, and even brave a polar plunge in one of the resort's colder pools. ICE! is open to both overnight resort guests and the public.
Early bird tickets are available now for $31-$39. Locals and travelers can also snag stay-and-play packages that include perks like front-of-line access to ICE! through a complimentary Chill Pass.
