The Return of Baduizm
Erykah Badu invites fans to 'unfollow' her on arena tour with San Antonio stop
Singer-songwriter and performance artist Erykah Badu will embark on the rare arena tour, dubbed the "Unfollow Me Tour," in summer 2023, kicking off at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on June 11.
Texas will also be the ending point of the "out-of-this-world, surrealist atmosphere" tour, culminating with a hometown stop at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sunday, July 23. In all, Badu will visit 25 cities in June and July. She'll be joined by friend and insightful hip-hop artist, yasiin bey, on all stops.
The impetus behind the unexpectedly large-scale tour is unclear, as Badu appears not be releasing new music anytime soon.
The "Queen of Neo Soul" released her first album, Baduizm, in 1997. She went on to release four more albums, most recently 2010's New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). She also released a mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, in 2015.
Since she continues to live in Dallas, Badu has made multiple appearances in her hometown through the years, most notably with her annual Birthday Bash, which typically takes place at The Factory in Deep Ellum.
Tickets for the “Unfollow Me” tour will go on sale on Thursday, April 20 at 2:22 pm at Ticketmaster.com.
