Groundbreaking disco band Chic boogies into San Antonio's Tobin Center

Nile Rogers and Chic is headlining Tobin Center's annual benefit concert.
San Antonio’s Tobin Center for the Performing Arts is urging locals to leave all their cares behind on November 1. On June 10, the downtown cultural hub revealed legendary disco hitmaker Chic as the headliner of its annual benefit concert.
Led by guitarist Nile Rodgers, Chic was one of the biggest hitmakers of the disco era, releasing a string of chart-toppers, including “Everybody Dance,” “I Want Your Love,” “Le Freak,” and “Good Times.” The latter’s famous bass line was one of the influential sounds in modern dance music history, inspiring everything from Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” to Daft Punk’s “Around the World.”
Outside of the band, Rodgers gained fame as a producer and songwriter. Eternal hits like Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family,” Madonna’s “Let’s Dance,” Diana Ross’ “I’m Coming Out,” and David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” all came from the prolific melody maker. He has worked with some of the giants of contemporary pop music, including Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé.
Chic’s sure-to-be funky performance funds for the Tobin Center’s Generation NEXT education initiative and community outreach programs, which provides inclusive artistic experiences to more than 50,000 annually. According to a release, community funds allowed the center to host 69 free community events in 2024.
Sponsorship opportunities for the glamorous event, which include tickets, are already on sale, ranging from a $300 individual backing to a $25,000 package. Individual tickets for the concert only go on sale at 10 am on June 13, starting at $89.
