Huge Hollywood stars haunt San Antonio for creepy horror convention

'90s icon Juliette Lewis will headline Big Texas Terror.
This year, San Antonio horror fans won’t have to wait until Halloween for some spine-tingling thrills. Fan convention Big Texas Terror is bringing some of the genre’s biggest stars to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on June 14 and 15.
Oscar nominee Juliette Lewis of From Dusk Till Dawn and Yellowjackets is the headliner, but the convention is stacked with horror heavyweights. Danny Trejo (Machete), David Arquette (Scream), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), and Mira Sorvino (Mimic) are among the scream queens and kings booked for the fest.
Scary movie buffs might be just as interested in taking a peek behind the monster masks. Ticket buyers can meet the original Ghostface from Scream (Lee Waddell), the latest Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise (James Jude Courtney), and the terrifying demon nun from the Conjuring universe (Bonnie Aarons).

Those who dare can also chat with comic book artists like Drew Russell, Hector Rodriguez III, and Jake Goodman. And a variety of ghastly goods will be available for purchase on the convention center floor.
Big Texas Terror is organized by the same company that organized Big Texas Comicon. In October 2024, the convention snagged A-listers like Elijah Woods and Sean Astin from the Lord of the Rings movies, Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam, The Punisher’s John Bernthal, and a reunion of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cast.
Tickets to Big Texas Terror range from $46.60 for a single-day pass to $228.95 for a two-day express pass that includes a gift bag and priority line placement for photo-ops and autographs. Those personal mementos cost extra depending on the star’s current clout. Trejo is offering a $200 fan experience; The Craft witch Rachel True is selling signatures for $40.
Parents who want to risk a week of nightmares can also bring their kids. Ghouls aged 3-10 can get spooked for only $14.30. The convention runs from 10 am-7 pm on June 14 and 10 am-5 pm on June 15.
