Dolly Parton adds San Antonio date to first major American tour in 25 years
It's been more than 25 years since country music star Dolly Parton has embarked on a major North American tour. She's doing so in 2016 — and she just added a San Antonio date to what's been called one of the hottest tickets of the year.
Announced Wednesday, Parton will play the third annual Tobin Center benefit concert on December 8 in support of her new double-disc album, Pure & Simple. While she'll debut a few new tunes, fans should expect a retrospective evening when she hits San Antonio.
“We’re so excited to get out there and see the fans again. I’m really looking forward to singing songs the fans have not heard in a while, as well as the hits, while debuting a few new ones off Pure & Simple,” Parton said.
The tour includes approximately 60 dates in the U.S. and Canada. Tickets to the San Antonio show go on sale Friday, June 24, at 10 am. Prices range from $95-$1,000; proceeds benefit the Tobin Center's Generation NEXT Education Initiative with the mission to inspire, enrich, and educate the City of San Antonio.
