Call a Spade
Saturday Night Live legend David Spade brings the laughs to San Antonio this fall
David Spade’s Catch Me Inside comedy tour is set to come to San Antonio this fall. The Majestic Theater will host the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated comedian on October 22.
In addition to his five-year stint on NBC's Saturday Night Live, Spade's career spans more than 35 years in the entertainment industry. He has appeared and starred in a number of hit movies like Tommy Boy and Joe Dirt while also lending his voice to animated features such as The Emperor’s New Groove and the Hotel Transylvania franchise. In 2018, he also published a New York Times best-selling audio book, A Polaroid Guy in a Snapchat World.
The star of acclaimed sitcoms such as Just Shoot Me and Rules of Engagement, Spade's recent role in the Netflix original comedy, The Wrong Missy, helped the film become the No. 1 movie on Netflix in the days following its release in May 2020. The film was also announced as the eighth most-watched Netflix original movie in the company’s history.
The announcement about his upcoming San Antonio tour stop came the same week as the release of his Netflix comedy special, called Nothing Personal, which became available on the streaming service on April 26.
The comedian visited Texas last month to give a live performance of his Fly on the Wall podcast, co-hosted by fellow Saturday Night Live alum Dana Carvey. CultureMap got to speak with the duo prior to their set, which was part of the Moontower Just for Laughs comedy festival. Spade will return to Texas barely six months later, and San Antonio will be the only Lone Star stop on his tour.
