New downtown San Antonio Lego experience constructs opening date
An all new attraction is taking shape downtown. Legoland Discovery Center, a hands-on experience devoted to all things Lego, will open April 12 at the Shops at Rivercenter.
Legoland Discovery Center is designed from a child's perspective, and features 10 play zones curated around different themes so kids (and, let's face it, their parents) can build whatever their imaginations dream up.
Additional highlights of the center include a 4D cinema, Lego-themed rides, a "Build and Test" area, what is being billed as the world’s biggest box of Legos, and a miniature San Antonio built from 1.5 million toy bricks.
“We are excited to welcome families and visitors from across San Antonio and Texas to experience the ultimate indoor Lego playground,” said Jeremy Aguillen, general manager of Legoland Discovery Center San Antonio and the adjacent Sea Life Aquarium.
It's not all fun and games and building, however. Legoland also offers kids' workshops and classes led by master model builder Kevin Hintz.
"Legoland Discovery Center ... will provide high-quality, educational, and interactive fun for kids and families," Aguillen continued. "The attractions will add to the diversity of hands-on experiences available to San Antonio residents and visitors."
San Antonio families can get that hands-on experience during the grand opening weekend April 12-14. Those interested in building memories before Legoland Discovery Center opens to the public, can purchase an annual play pass for a VIP invite. Details can be found here.
