San Antonio winter storm sparks wave of closures and cancellations

Some San Antonio businesses are cancelling events ahead of the winter storm.
You may have heard: San Antonio is bracing for a winter storm on Saturday, January 24, with frosty temperatures and the potential for freezing rain. While forecasters say it won’t be another Winter Storm Uri, the memory of 2021 still looms large — and plenty of events and businesses are already closing out of an abundance of caution.

210 Car Meets
Both the Friday event at Bombshells and the Street Heat event at My Weekend World have been cancelled due to upcoming weather conditions.
Briscoe Western Art Museum
The downtown museum is taking January 24 off and cancelling its planned Wild West Wildlife Festival. Weather permitting, it will reopen on January 25. Staff says locals can next enjoy free admission on Local’s Day on February 1.
Gruene Hall
The revered Texas dancehall has cancelled its Saturday show featuring Jesse Raub Jr. & Jenna Paulette and will refund all ticketholders. Those who want to squeeze in a little two-stepping before the freeze can head out for a free set from Wesley Hanna starting at 8 pm, Friday, January 23.
Pearl Farmers Market
Pearl is cancelling both of its weekend farmers' markets to ensure the safety of staff, vendors, and guests. In a release, the district asked regulars to buy a little extra next weekend to help farmers recover lost income from the freeze.
San Antonio Zoo
Although the zoo is remaining open for now, it might not be the best time to visit. The park says it is “activating comprehensive cold-weather protocols to protect the animals in [its] care. It will continue to monitor weather conditions and update guests about potential closures on social media.
SeaWorld San Antonio
The marine park will be closed to visitors on Saturday and Sunday, with plans to resume regular hours on January 31.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
The popular amusement park will be closed both Saturday and Sunday. Six Flags says it expects to reopen on January 31.
