Esteemed San Antonio university earns No. 20 ranking among America's best small colleges
Students at Trinity University have a new school accolade worth writing home to Mom and Dad about.
Niche, an education review and ranking website, has named Trinity the 20th best small college in America. It's also the 19th best college liberal arts college in the U.S. and the No. 1 liberal arts college in Texas. Overall, it's the fourth best college in Texas.
The San Antonio university receives an A+ in two of the 12 ranking categories — academics and professors. It gets an A for diversity and value, and an A- for location.
Trinity also ranked highly in other categories, including:
- No. 4 of 684 for Best Colleges with No Application Fee in America.
- No. 55 of 936 for Top Private Universities in America.
- No. 58 of 1,527 for Colleges with the Best Professors in America.

Trinity regularly ranks highly on lists of the best colleges and universities in the country, including those published by Niche, Forbes, and U.S. News & World Report.
“The professors seemed to care deeply about their students' individual success; this is why I believe the very small average class size is so appealing," a student wrote in a Niche review. "The campus is gorgeous and fosters creativity, tranquility, and a strong urge to cultivate one's higher will and gain a deeper understanding of the beautiful spot in time and space that we find ourselves."
Topping Niche’s national list is Yale University, followed by Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Princeton University, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Dartmouth College.
Rice University in Houston ranks first among the best colleges in Texas. Here are the top 10 Texas schools:

5. Southern Methodist University (University Park)
6. Texas Christian University (Fort Worth)
7. Texas Tech University (Lubbock)
