San Antonio’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. March has added some major star power to its 2026 lineup. Olympian Gabby Douglas and Grammy winner Coco Jones will join the commemorative program’s lineup, held on January 19.
Jones, coming off a well-received appearance on NPR’s "Tiny Desk Concerts", is a multi-hyphenate actress, songwriter, and singer who first got her start as a Disney Channel fixture of shows like Good Luck Charlie and So Random!
In more recent years, she has starred in Peacock drama Bel Air and forged a career in R&B. In 2024, she was nominated for five Grammys, winning for her chart-topping single “ICU.” She is nominated again for Best R&B Album this year.
Douglas won the nation’s heart as part of the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic team. One of the most-decorated athletes in her field, she was the first Black gymnast to win an Olympic individual all-around title, and the first U.S. gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympic Games.

While staging a gymnastics comeback, she has kept busy in recent years by appearing in a reality series, writing two New York Times bestsellers, and winning the first season of The Masked Singer spinoff, The Masked Dancer.
“Coco Jones and Gabby Douglas embody excellence, perseverance, and the power of Black leadership across generations,” said District 2 Councilmember Jaylen McKee-Rodriguez during a January 12 press conference. “Gabby Douglas represents discipline, courage, and historic firsts, breaking barriers on the world stage and redefining what is possible through determination and grace. Coco Jones represents creative freedom, emotional truth, and the modern voice of empowerment, using music and storytelling to connect, heal, and inspire.”
San Antonio’s annual MLK March, billed as the largest in the world, draws upward of 300,000 people each year and includes several days of events such as worship services, wreath-laying ceremonies, and a youth empowerment summit. A full list of activities can be found online.
The march itself kicks off at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy (3501 Martin Luther King Dr.) at 10 am, ending at Pittman-Sullivan Park (1101 Iowa St.). Douglas is expected to provide the keynote address at noon, followed by a performance from Jones at 2 pm.
