What: Star of Texas Awards
Where: Briscoe Western Art Museum
The lowdown: More than 250 people gathered to watch the Texas Historical Foundation present its Star of Texas award to Charline and Red McCombs. The influential Texans were honored for their contributions to the state, including support of higher learning, healthcare, and historic preservation.
This is the foundation's third Star of Texas award ever. Proceeds from the evening support an endowment created by the McCombs which benefits Texas Historical Foundation's Texas Heritage magazine.
