Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition was inspired by his friend’s drawings and watercolors. For this concert, YOSA features new artwork by San Antonio high school students, inspired by Mussorgsky’s music. Other colorful Russian music rounds out the concert, including Pakhmutova’s vibrant Youth Overture and Koussevitzky’s Double Bass Concerto, with virtuoso bass player Xavier Foley, winner of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.
