Gabriela Ortiz’s “Kauyumari” draws on the spiritual traditions of Mexico’s Wixárika people through vivid colors and driving rhythms. Composer Daniel Freiberg’s Guitar Concerto showcases one of the world’s most beloved folk instruments in a fresh and expressive symphonic setting, with world-renowned guitarist Rafael Aguirre as soloist. Bringing the season to a close, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 transforms the sounds and spirit of his native Bohemia into one of the most uplifting and beloved works in the orchestral repertoire.
