In the late 1970s, Shake Russell formed a band in Houston and was joined by hometown friend & fellow songwriter/musician Dana Cooper. For over a decade, The Shake Russell/Dana Cooper band garnered a large following in Texas. Although their respective careers have since diverged to different regions of the country, each of them has continued to nurture their talent and maintain a successful, creative music career.
Russell has released seven albums in his career, most recently Gold to Me in 2024. Cooper has released 32 albums in his career, most recently The Ghost of Tucumcari in 2024. The two have also collaborated on several albums, most recently Love's Bright Campaign in 1998.
