The San Antonio Symphony, conducted by André Raphel and the MLK Mass Choir, presents this concert honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy.  This program will include the inspiring poem-set-to-music, Lift Every Voice and Sing, sections of Hailstork’s Three Spirituals for Orchestra, as well as works by Coleridge-Taylor, Beethoven, Duke Ellington, and others.

In addition to the inspiring Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Concert, the San Antonio Symphony is also hosting Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Young Peoples Concerts, a series of free performances for local students. As an interactive enhancement to the 2017 Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Young People’s Concert program, the San Antonio Symphony will conduct a “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech Contest” for attending 5th grade students, the winners of which will be invited to recite excerpts from Dr. King’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech onstage at the concerts.
