Artist Rick Lowe will discuss his work and process with Ruby City director Elyse A. Gonzales. Ruby City acquired Lowe’s painting "Untitled," 2021, and it is on view for the first time in the current exhibition "Tangible/Nothing."

Lowe resides in Houston. Over the past 20 years he has worked both inside and outside of art world institutions by participating in exhibitions and developing community-based art projects. Lowe’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions at national and international venues, including the recent 2022 Whitney Biennial. He received a 2014 MacArthur award for his work with the groundbreaking organization Project Row Houses in Houston.

Lowe’s talk is part of the series Taller Talks, created by the Carver Community Cultural Center and Ruby City to connect audiences to the wide range of artists working in the community and beyond. The name derives from the Spanish word, taller, for "studio" in English.
