"Different Skin" is an exhibition honoring the memory of UT-Brownsville and UTRGV professor Carlos G. Gomez. The show features the work of Jesse Burciaga, Josie Del Castillo, and Alejandro Macias, all artists from Brownsville, Texas who were mentored by Gomez.
Burciaga, Del Castillo, and Macias are all gifted painters with a common love of portraiture, and each have their own unique style that they use to explore concepts of identity, culture, body image, and their experiences living in the Rio Grande Valley.
The opening reception features music by DJ Electric Messiah and a live performance by Austin contemporary synth-cumbia quartet, Como Las Movies. Following the opening reception the exhibit can be viewed by appointment through November 24.
