Curated by MBAW Gallery Coordinator Diana Roberts, “Alterations, Interventions, and Other Manipulations” looks at some of the playful, ironic, investigative, or purely aesthetic ways contemporary artists interact with found imagery and preconceived ideas. Through subtle (or not so subtle) manipulation of materials, intent, or visual cues, these four Texas-based artists: Jill Bedgood, Carra Garza, Gerald Lopez, and Paul Valadez, subvert, shift, and ultimately expand our reading of the images, inviting alternate perceptions.
The opening reception includes wine, bites, and music. Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through February 7, 2020.
