McNay Art Museum presents Toussaint L’Ouverture: The Story of the Only Successful Slave Revolt

The leader of the Haitian Revolution, Toussaint L’Ouverture, inspired playwright C. L. R. James to tell the story of L’Ouverture’s meteoric rise from carriage driver to charismatic military general. This staged reading, presented as a program of the current exhibition, "Haiti’s Revolution in Art: Jacob Lawrence’s Toussaint L’Ouverture Series," is organized and adapted by Vincent Hardy, actor and theatre director, St. Philip’s College.
