Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival is back for its 15th year with a celebration unlike any other. Taking place on the newly renovated Hemisfair grounds and at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, it features a lineup of uniquely talented and diverse group of individuals showcasing music, large-scale art installations, film, dance, fine art, and poetry.
The festival provides a center stage spotlight for local artists to put their work on display and connect their art to the San Antonio community. Each year, artists who would like to participate in the event submit an application including examples of their work, an artist statement, and a captivating story. Curators then score applications and meet to select those artists who will be featured in the event.
This year’s festival will host two live music stages, five large-scale digital art projection areas, a full gallery of fine art at the Mexican Cultural Institute, large art installations and sculptures, a spoken word stage at UNAM San Antonio, and more across the newly inaugurated Civic Park, Hemisfair, and the Convention Center.
