Dogtopia of San Antonio presents Dogs for a Cause: Supporting America’s Heroes, featuring Pat Tillman Award winner and service dog advocate, Retired Command Sergeant Major Gretchen Evans, as the keynote speaker.
CSM Evans, a US Army veteran and Texas native, is one of the most highly decorated female veterans in the country. While serving in Afghanistan in 2006, CSM Evans’ world changed in a millisecond when a rocket blast caused her debilitating injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, internal injuries, and the loss of all hearing.
Evans will share her harrowing story, and explain how a service dog she received during her recovery saved her life. The event will feature San Antonio’s own Cleto Rodriguez as emcee, musician Chris Boss and the Central Catholic High School Chaminade JROTC Color Guard. There will also be K9 exhibitions from organizations that train service dogs specifically for military veterans.
Organizers hope to raise $125,000 to support efforts to train more service dogs for military veterans who are struggling with daily life due to life-changing injuries or PTSD.
The event is free, but passes are required. With a donation of any amount, event passes may be picked up at one of the four San Antonio Dogtopia locations, while supplies last.

- Stone Oak – 2106 E Sonterra Blvd Suite 103
