Classical Music Institute presents CMI 210 Festival

The CMI 210 Festival brings together music education and performances from student artists, as well as collaborative performances with professional groups.

Schedule of events

  • June 10: From Cuba to Miami - Cuba’s deep-rooted musical traditions stretch back centuries. From folk and dance to jazz, this concert traces the powerful influence and connections between the Caribbean Islands and the United States, featuring works from Chevalier de Saint-Georges to Paquito D’Rivera.
  • June 12: Teaching Artist Fellows Concert - The Teaching Artist Fellows Concert showcases the talent and dedication of emerging artists from the 210 Festival. Coming from many of the nation’s top conservatories and universities, the emerging musicians spend the festival working closely with Artist Faculty to refine their craft, explore new artistic directions, and gain hands-on pedagogical experience. This concert brings together an engaging mix of classical and contemporary works, reflecting both their growth during the festival and their unique voices as performers.
  • June 13: Bernstein's America - This concert celebrates the incomparable Leonard Bernstein, one of the most influential figures in American music. From the Broadway stage to the concert hall, his works embody a distinctive voice that bridges popular and classical traditions, full of rhythmic vitality, emotional depth, and unmistakable energy.
  • June 16: Expanding Agility - From Paganini’s fiery final Caprice to Enescu’s radiant Octet for Strings, this program grows in sound and scale as an ever-expanding ensemble of 210 Festival Artists takes the stage. The evening journeys from the devilish virtuosity of Paganini’s solo violin to the sweeping brilliance of Enescu’s masterwork.
  • June 18: 210 Youth Finale - The next generation of talent is on display at the 210 Festival’s Youth Program concert. The concert celebrates the culmination of two weeks of training with Faculty Artists from The Orchestra San Antonio, and Guest Faculty Artists visiting from all over the world. (Takes place at Edgewood Theatre of Performing Arts)
  • June 19: Young Artist Program Finale - This concert vocal concert by the Young Artist Program is presented in partnership with OPERA San Antonio and The Orchestra San Antonio, featuring a selection of beloved operatic works.
  • June 20: Festival Finale - The grand finale of the 210 Festival features a performance presented by OPERA San Antonio and The Orchestra San Antonio, celebrating music and the performing arts through the confluence of vocal and instrumental artistry.
