The Royal Marines Band Service is the musical wing of The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom that traces its origins to the 16th century, when lively airs and the beat of the drum enabled columns of marching men to keep a regular step and the sound of the pipes instilled a sense of pride for the homeland.

Today, Royal Marines musicians are regarded among the best and most versatile in the military musical world, and the pipes, drums and dancers of the Scots Guards (Rosyth, Scotland) embody both the military precision and inspiring sound associated with British Military bands. Most of the musicians are masters of multiple instruments, and all are fully trained active military personnel who typically perform support duties such as logistics and medical personnel and drivers. They often entertain troops deployed overseas and represent the Royal Marines in an ambassadorial role.
