46th CineFestival San Antonio

CineFestival San Antonio is the nation’s original and longest running Latinx film festival, exhibiting Chicanx, Latinx, and International Latin American cinema, with a strong focus on regional and local filmmaking.

The 2025 festival will showcase San Antonio premieres of new feature films, the Mesquite Award nominees for Best Texas Short Film, and a selection of Latinx short films from San Antonio, Texas, and the U.S.

Highlights include the San Antonio premiere of Uvalde Mom, a feature length documentary that tells the story of Angeli Rose Gomez, a farm worker and single mom who ran into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas to save her two sons during a mass shooting. Director Anayansi Prado will be in attendance.

Closing night will showcase the premiere of the feature documentary Take It Away, tracing the life of Johnny Canales, who was instrumental in launching the careers of legendary musicians like Selena, Ramon Ayala, and Intocable, among others, through the Johnny Canales Show, a music variety TV show. Co-directors Adrian Alejandro Arredondo and Myrna Perez will be in attendance, along with many of the artists featured in the film.

Festival venues will include the Carver Community Cultural Center, Santikos Mayan Palace, and the Jo Long Theatre for the Performing Arts.
