Looking to book your next summer getaway? How about a modern desert retreat with a breathtaking view of the Davis Mountains? Or maybe a boho treehouse close to shopping, nightlife, and world-class restaurants?
Airbnb just released its report detailing the most desired properties in each of the 50 Texas cities in which it operates. The report was compiled from the site’s wish list function, which allows users to bookmark from more than 30,000 rentals when planning upcoming trips.
Unsurprisingly, the top listing in San Antonio is located in the city’s core, less than a mile from the River Walk. The colorful '30s bungalow features amenities like a 47-inch TV, a washer and dryer, parking, and two bikes available to borrow. If you didn't bring your car, don't worry; the property is also within walking distance of some of San Antonio’s hottest eateries and bars.
Like San Antonio, location is one of the top selling points in large cities like Austin, Houston, and Dallas. But the reasons for each listing’s popularity are as varied as the locations on the list. In coastal areas, proximity to the beach is the main selling point, with most of the most sought-after listings along the Gulf being a mile or less from the ocean.
In more rural areas, Airbnb users are looking to get off the grid, as in a solar-powered adobe tiny house near Big Bend National Park or a Spring farmhouse nestled in a 3-acre farm and orchard.
In the Texas Hill Country, users gravitate towards properties in natural settings, such as a light-filled cabin close to Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs, a funky Wimberley charmer on the banks of the Blanco River, and a converted barn in San Marcos complete with an indoor garden.
Of course, affordability is also important. In smaller towns, you can score a coveted Airbnb for as low as $32. In bigger cities, the rentals offer luxury accommodations and a convenient location for far less than the nightly rate of a top-tier hotel.
