A go-to boutique for charming Hill Country home goods and yard art is being forced out of its longtime home. New Braunfels’ The Wildflower Barn will shutter at the end of July after 20 years in business, the shop shared via Facebook.
Housed in a bright red shack at 1077 S Seguin Ave., The Wildflower Barn is instantly recognizable for its collection of cheerful metal sculptures just outside the doors. The menagerie includes clucking hens, preening flamingos, and a few wandering deer.
Inside, guests will find a jumble of country-chic finds including rustic furniture, Texas stars, Mexican blankets, and cowhide pillows. Everything is jumbled, giving customers a chance to find treasures around every corner.
The business was frank about the reason for the closure; it lost its lease. Although the shop did not elaborate further, it is located in a prime spot in a boomtown that is seeing an influx of new construction ranging from two ambitious new entertainment centers to a hotel boasting a restaurant from famous Texas chef Tim Love.
New Braunfels also keeps attracting new residents. In April, relocation platform named it one of the nation’s “100 Best Places to Live in 2025.” In 2024, financial tech company SmartAsset said the city added a larger percentage of high-income households than any other nearby city.
Although the owners told Community Impact that they are actively looking for a new location, The Wildflower Barn has not yet announced any plans for its new home. Surely, some of New Braunfels’ new residents have space for a pressed-tin delphinium.
For now, the shop is selling off its massive inventory. The steals include 20 percent off the lowest market price of all indoor goods and 25 percent off yard art and other outdoor decor.
