McNay Art Museum presents “Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints, and Drawings”
Celebrate pop art painter Wayne Thiebaud’s 100th birthday with an up-close look at a selection of 100 works by the artist in all media. Visitors can expect to see glimpses of the late painter’s life represented in works from various points of his career and with an array of subjects, including people, places, and his iconic paintings of desserts. The exhibit is on display through January 16.
Broadway in San Antonio: Hamilton
Hit Broadway production Hamilton comes to the Majestic Theatre for a limited time only. The popular musical explores the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, and is accompanied by a score that combines jazz, hip-hop, rap, and more genres for transformative storytelling. Presa House presents “A Todas Horas” opening reception
Get a first look at the latest solo and collaborative artwork by South Texas-based artists Monica Lugo and Sam Rawls at Presa House Gallery. The “A Todas Horas” exhibition will feature a combination of both Lugo’s and Rawls’ visual styles showcased on illustrated vignettes focusing on women and mothers and how they’ve been shaped by the pandemic. Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through January 29. Admission is free.
Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club presents Jeff Dye
Comedian and actor Jeff Dye brings his stand-up material to the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club for the weekend. Dye is best known for his starring role in NBC series BetterLate Than Never and for his appearance as a contestant on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Shows are scheduled through January 9. Garden Ridge Market Days
Stock up on fresh, local produce, unique artisan goods, and more at Garden Ridge Market Days. The open-air market is hosted at Northeast Bible Church and will offer shoppers the chance to purchase from more than 100 vendors selling a wide range of products, including farm-fresh produce, candles, sweet treats, plants and succulents, pet accessories, home décor items, boutique clothing, and more. Customers are required to adhere to all safety guidelines, and face masks are required whenever indoors. Admission is free.
