Where to Drink Now
Where to drink in San Antonio right now: 5 beautiful Alamo City bars
September has arrived, and along with it, we focus on swanky, beautiful places to drink. These eye-catching spaces have great drinks too — modern to traditional cocktails, amazing wine lists, and specialty beers on tap. You can have everything you want in a drink in some of San Antonio's most beautiful spaces.
The Brooklynite
A tried and true favorite, every detail is attended to at all times. The cocktails are boozy and amazing, and you should most certainly try the bourbon, Giffard banana, and cinnamon extravaganza that is the Machine Gun Funk. You'll feel every bit self-indulgent as you sip that gorgeous cocktail in this swanky setting.
The Edison Experiment
This Northside stunner is magical, with lights that twinkle in true Edison fashion and a luxurious environment with bartenders to match. Try Tiki Mondays with drinks like the Pain Killer to help you over that "Sunday Funday" slump that ends up being a head-pounding Monday.
Ocho at Hotel Havana
With stunning river views, this bar is beautiful and zen times a million. The colors merge in a meaningful and over-the-top way. Sip on the Hemingway daiquiri with maraschino cherry, lime, and grapefruit like you're smack-dab in the middle of Havana.
Paramour
The view, people, the view. And, yes, the drinks are just as lovely as the space itself. We had a revolving tray of Miraval Rosé during our last visit, which was pretty and pink. Here’s a friendly reminder that you can visit Paramour for more than just an evening drink — the bar opens at 7 am Monday through Friday, 8 am Saturday and Sunday, with coffee service until 4 pm.
Sternewirth at Hotel Emma
Drink tanks and spiral staircases throughout this lovely and generous space defy the need to drink anywhere else. The bar is arranged so that you can find a cozy nook, perfect for telling secrets, we suppose, in style. We love the tanks and we love The Three Emmas cocktail, a decadent drink with gin and absinthe.
