CLUCK TRUCK
Funky hot chicken truck from Houston clutches first San Antonio location
Nashville hot chicken is trucking into the San Antonio market via a Houston restaurateur who hails from the Middle East country of Jordan. If that’s confusing enough to make you say, “What the cluck?” don’t fly the coop just yet, because this food truck is serving up some of the stickiest, sauciest chicken sandwiches and tenders to hatch this side of the Mighty Mississippi.
Clutch City Cluckers, which first roosted in Houston with the opening of a hot chicken food truck in February, will open its second location, in San Antonio, at 7038 UTSA Blvd., in August.
Clutch City Cluckers founder Ahmad Kilani decided to spread his wings with the addition of a San Antonio food truck after the Houston truck received rave reviews and gained a cult following.
The San Antonio truck will serve specialties like Nashville-inspired hot chicken sandwiches, cheese-drenched hot chicken sandwiches, crispy chicken tenders, over-the-top loaded fries, and more. The truck will also offer a novelty brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am-2 pm.
Kilani, who immigrated to Houston from Jordan in 2015 to continue his education, got a taste of the food industry while also working at Abu Omar Halal, Houston’s first halal food truck, and now co-owns six trucks across Texas and Louisiana. But he’s putting plenty of his eggs in one basket with his investment in Clutch City Cluckers, which he says he hopes to grow into a nationwide success.
In celebration of the San Antonio truck’s opening, Clutch City Cluckers will host a two-day grand opening celebration Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21 from 11 am-11 pm daily, with 50 percent off the entire food truck menu.
Once it’s officially open for business, Clutch City Cluckers San Antonio will operate Monday through Sunday from 11 am-11 pm.
