New San Antonio Brewery Tours are your ticket to the city's best beers
Beer lovers, rejoice. There's a new option for those in the Alamo City that wish to explore the science of zymurgy — the study of fermentation in brewing or distilling — or just drink some good beers.
Each San Antonio Brewery Tour offers an all-inclusive adventure, including exclusive tastings and transportation to three different craft breweries on each tour. According to owners Carlos and Jill Garcia, the mission of the business is simple: "bringing together great people to drink great beer."
San Antonio Brewery Tours was inspired by the Garcias traveling to beer-loving cities like Seattle, Denver, and San Diego. They saw a need in San Antonio and wanted to give locals and tourists the opportunity to experience the city's best craft breweries.
Choose from a variety of tour options including the East Side Ride (Alamo Beer, Freetail Brewing Company, and Blue Star Brewing Company); Brews in the Burbs (Freetail, Branchline Brewing, and Ranger Creek Brewery and Distillery); or the "Sunday Funday" addition, which features a trip to New Braunfels (New Braunfels Brewing Company, Guadalupe Brewing Company, and Faust Brewing Company).
The outings provide four beer samples at each stop, along with a guided tour of the space and brewing process. Guests also receive a complimentary pint glass, koozie, water, and snack.
To give you a taste, here's what you'd experience on the East Side Ride tour:
First stop: Blue Star Brewing Company
Blue Star is owned by San Antonio's Joey Villarreal and has been one of the city's premier breweries since opening in 1996. The beer is organic and made using all natural ingredients. The pub also offers food alongside its great craft beer.
Next stop: Freetail Brewing Company
Freetail initially began as a brewpub, but has since built a new production brewery and distribute product throughout Texas. The goal of the brewery is to bring the pursuit of "better stuff" to fruition for its customers.
Final stop: Alamo Beer
Most famous for its golden ale, this joint is one of San Antonio's newest breweries, opening its doors in December 2014.
San Antonio Brewery Tours start at $65 per person; for VIP events, guests are able to book an entire bus for $845. All tours require a down payment and reservation in advance.
