COMING ATTRACTIONS
Popular hot chicken chain flocks to San Antonio's Far West Side

Richie's Hot Chicken is opening a second outpost in Alamo Ranch.
Less than two years after roosting in San Antonio, Richie’s Hot Chicken is doubling down. The California-based brand is opening a second restaurant in Alamo Ranch at 11310 Culebra Rd, next door to Phở Việt.
Richie’s first introduced itself to San Antonians in 2022, operating as a food truck before opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 11224 Huebner Rd. The owners also operate a location in West Covina, California.
The mini-chain specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken, but with a few twists inspired by the owner’s Mexican-American heritage, like a Cali burrito stuffed with strips, eggs, slaw, pickles, seasoned fries, and a zippy secret sauce.
Similar to chains like Dave’s Hot Chicken or Urban Bird, Richie’s offers fried chicken on sandwiches, sliders, and loaded fries. Guests can also chomp down on a grilled cheese or the “special meal” on a French roll — both filled with plump tenders.
The sides menu is relatively slim with choices such as slaw, mac ‘n’ cheese, and banana or Oreo pudding. Richie’s also dishes out traditional bone-in wings in flavors like ranch, barbecue, garlic parmesan, and mango habanero.
So far, Richie’s hasn’t leaked any info about the upcoming second outpost. An eagle-eyed user of the San Antonio Restaurants Facebook group first spotted the “coming soon” sign at the Far West Side shopping center, and CultureMap independently verified. The business did not immediately respond to a request for details on the timeline.
