SAN ANTONIO IN THE SPOTLIGHT
San Antonio's La Panadería scores spot on the Tamron Hall talk show
La Panadería brothers José (l) and David Cáceres pose backstage at Tamron Hall's talk show.
A beloved San Antonio bakery chain will soon shine on national TV — and no, it’s not another spin through Flavortown. La Panadería will be featured on Tamron Hall’s daytime talk show on Friday, April 3.
Cofounders and brothers José and David Cáceres will be teaching the affable host one of their fan-favorite recipes during an Easter segment. Spoiler alert: While a release played coy on the exact pastry featured, a YouTube teaser shows David piping something that looks suspiciously like the cafe’s signature tres leches croissant.
Hall’s verdict? “This is incredible!”
Over the past decade, the Cáceres brothers have had a meteoric rise. After learning the trade from their mother and training in Europe, they opened the original 8305 Broadway St. flagship in 2014. Now, the concept is a mini-chain with five San Antonio locations.
Along the way, they have been no strangers to the spotlight. Food & Wine ran a glowing profile in February 2018, calling it the bakery of the future. A few months earlier, in September 2017, Guy Fieri stopped by for an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
And it looks like La Panadería isn’t yet done with its star turn. In mid-March, chef David Chang and comedian Cristela Alonzo were spotted at the downtown location. The pair were filming a new CNN food and travel series.
La Panadería’s Tamron Hall segment will air locally on KCWX at noon.
