Jim’s brings back 24-hour dining to San Antonio's Northwest Side

Jim's is returning to its 24/7 roots.
For the first time in years, the lights at Jim’s Restaurant at Fredericksburg Road and Loop 410 are staying on all night. The beloved San Antonio diner will return to its 24-hour schedule on Wednesday, February 4.
The chain announced the change via a social media post featuring the iconic Googie-style building, first built in 1967.
“Does Your Day Begin With a Sunset??,” wrote the business. “We Got You!”
Jim’s open-all-night model was upended in 2020 when a surge in COVID-19 cases caused a citywide lockdown. After the restrictions were eased, Jim’s faced a new normal, closing all of its locations at 10 pm or earlier due to insufficient staffing and other challenges.
During the subsequent years, the chain suffered even more gut punches. In 2022, the heirs of founder Germano “Jim” Hasslocher were involved in a squabble over the family fortune. And in 2025, a judge ordered the company to pay $4 million in damages after a shattered window injured a Schertz couple dining at 8427 Broadway in 2022.
During the time, Jim’s scaled back on its corporate footprint. Three restaurants closed between 2024 and 2025, including the Bandera Road, Loop 410 and Blanco Road, and flagship Broadway locations. The latter is currently being transformed into Adair Kitchen, the first San Antonio outpost of a Houston chain.
Night owls and early birds can expect even more locations to return to 24-hour service this year. The diner promised that more outposts would make the change after extending the hours at the Broadway and Loop 410 restaurant in December 2025 — once again making its slogan, "There's always Jim's," true.
